Instructions

The first thing that we will do is prepare our paper. We need an A2 base in orange cardstock. So, to make the base cut an 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock in the middle at the 5-1/2″ mark on the long side. Then take one of those pieces and place on a paper scoring board and score in the middle on the long edge at 4-1/4″. Now, you have a base!

For the other cuts you’ll need:

  • Cardstock – Yellow, cut to 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
  • Cardstock – White, 2.875″ x 3.625″ (3rd largest from A2 die set) and a scrap piece
  • Cardstock – Orange, A2 Base
  • Cardstock – Glitter, Silver (Recollections Glitter Cardstock Paper Pad)

Stamp the sentiment stamp on a piece of scrap paper in Paradise ink. Stamp the Mini Flag Peg Stamp in Paradise ink (x2), Cheerful ink (x2), and Monarch ink (x3). Fussy cut out the sentiment and flags.

Die cut a stitched circle (3rd from the smallest) in white cardstock. Stamp the Jumbo Cake in Monarch ink in the center of the die cut. Rub Summertime ink around the edge of the die cut. Color in the birthday cake with yellow and orange pencils. Color the candle light with stardust pen.

On the yellow paper stamp the Tiny Confetti Peg Stamp in Summertime ink around the edge of the paper and place in the embossing folder and dry emboss the sheet. Rub VersaMark ink around the edge of the card covering what you stamped. Place a piece of paper under the cardstock and sprinkle with Ranger’s Holographic Embossing Powder all over it, knock off the excess and melt with a heat tool.

On the white cardstock stamp the Tiny Confetti in Cheerful ink at the top of the paper. Stamp the Tiny Balloon in Monarch ink three times. Stamp again three times in Summertime ink and again three times in Paradise ink. Stamp the Tiny Party Hat in Summertime ink three times along the bottom sides of the card. Stamp the Party Hat again in Monarch ink (x2) and Cheerful ink (x3). Rub the outside edge of the card with Summertime ink.

Unravel a three stand piece of baker’s twine. and wrap it around the top part of the card and tape on the back. Glue the Flag cutouts along the thread from left to right. Under the flags, glue down the fussy cut sentiment. Now, I left some of the edges up so that it gives it some dimension.

Using the 4th from the smallest circle die cut a piece of glitter cardstock and glue the cake stamped die cut to the glitter paper.

Tape the stamped white panel to the yellow embossed piece of cardstock. Wrap three colors of baker’s twine around the card under the sentiment and tape on the backside. Cut 6 small pieces of baker’s twine. Alternating the colors, tie each one around the twine that you wrapped around the card and bunch them together however it looks good to you.

Apply a piece of foam tape to the back of the glitter paper cake circle and adhere it to the center of the card, just a bit up from the bottom.

Using the glitter pen create strings for the balloons, color in the balloon reflections, and the stripes on the hats. Glue the stamped panel to the orange card base.

For the envelope, open it and stamp the inside flap with the Tiny Balloon in Cheerful, Paradise, and Monarch. Flip the envelope over and either stamp the Mini Flag in those same colors, or stamp them on a piece of paper, cut them out and glue them to the front top of the envelope. Using the glitter pen draw a string between the flags.
