The first thing that we will do is prepare our paper. We need an A2 base
in cream cardstock. So, to make the base cut an 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of
cardstock in the middle at the 5-1/2″ mark on the long side. Then take
one of those pieces and place on a paper scoring board and score in the
middle on the long edge at 4-1/4″. Now, you have a base!
For the other cuts you’ll need:
Emboss the blue cardstock with a dots embossing folder and then cut in half along the 5-1/2″ side. Emboss the green cardstock with an argyle embossing folder and cut the same way.
Flip the embossed and cut pieces so the embossing shows best at either end and tape the two pieces together on the back.
On the piece of cream cardstock for die cutting, trace the circle die and then stamp the Mini Roster Right in Paris Dusk ink, rotating the StampRight Placement line (Rooster’s feet) along the line you traced. Clean the stamp and stamp the Rooster Right again in Pear Tart ink over the top of the first stamping.
Place the scalloped die evenly around the stamping and tape for cutting.
Stamp the Mini Rooster Right in Paris Dusk ink and color in with the chartreuse pencil. Place the small square die over it to form a diamond shape with the Rooster’s feet being in one corner. Tape for cutting. Place and tape down the other square dies for cutting.
Run sheet through die machine, cutting everything at once.
Brush Paris Dusk ink to the edges of the scalloped die cut with a blending brush. Erase the pencil line from the center. Brush blue ink onto the edge of the middle size square die cut as well as the smallest square with the Rooster. Brush Pear Tart ink onto the largest square die cut with a blending brush.
Stamp the Mini Rooster Right in Pear Tart ink all over the middle square die cut.Place the “Happy” sentiment in the corner of the largest square die cut with the flat side facing up.
Place the middle square die cut on top of the largest square die cut, so that the bottom of the sentiment just touches it. Butt the “Day” sentiment up to the “Y” of the first sentiment on the other corner of the square. Place the acrylic block down, adhering both sentiments for later stamping.
Ink the sentiment in Paris Dusk ink and stamp in the corner of the largest square die cut. Cut the diamond shape in half, making the cut line on the two points under the sentiment.
Place this triangle shape on top of the scalloped die cut, to make it just cover the Rooster’s feet and glue together. Center the scalloped circle and mark where the blue and green cardstock come together. Cut through both pieces of paper (that are glued together) at that mark. Center and glue to the blue and green paper piece. Wrap two chartreuse ribbons on the front and tape to the backside. Wrap a piece of blue polka dot ribbon in the center of both green ribbons and tape to the backside of the card. Glue the smallest square with the Rooster on top of the middle-sized square and glue that to where it fits just under the sentiment and on top of the ribbons.
Glue the entire panel to the card base.
For the envelope, die cut another small and middle-size die cut and create the same medallion with the Rooster as you did for the card and glue part of that to the flap of the envelope, sealing the bottom part of the medallion when sending with glue.
This is the original card that inspired this tutorial. Renee Lewis made this card very much like I did, but she used paper instead of ribbons and a gold paint pen and black matting instead of brushing on ink. Her top embossing folder also goes a different way than mine.
