The first thing that we will do is prepare our paper. We need an A2 base in blue cardstock. So, to make the base cut an 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock in the middle at the 5-1/2″ mark on the long side. Then take one of those pieces and place on a paper scoring board and score in the middle on the long edge at 4-1/4″. Now, you have a base!

For the other cuts you’ll need:

  • Cardstock – White, cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″

Mount the pot onto an acrylic block and ink with Rhubarb Stalk ink. Stamp it in the center of the card. Clean then stamp and repeat this in  Paris Dusk on the left  and Tangelo on the right. Mount the sentiment on an acrylic block and ink it in Cottage Ivy. Stamp below the pots.

On Masking Magic, stamp the pot three times. Also, stamp all of the cactus in the Dessert Cactus and Cactus Terrarium Peg Stamp Sets. Fussy cut these images.

Apply the pot masks to what you just stamped on the card.

In the pot on the left stamp using the Cactus Terrarium set. Stamp the Mini Barrel cactus in Cottage Ivy ink. Let dry and apply the mask for it. Stamp the Jumbo Torch Cactus in Northern Pine ink, let it dry and apply its mask. Stamp the Mini Kalancho in Olive Grove ink, stamping again without reinking for a variation in color.

Move to the middle pot and we’ll use Build a Prickly Pear Cactus set. We will stamp all elements in Pistachio ink. I started with a Mini stamp and the attached to it another Mini Stamp, and from there I added several Tiny Prickly Pear leaves. Stamp the Tiny Flower at the ends of the cacti in Rhubarb Stalk ink.

Moving to the right pot, we will use the Desert Cactus set. Stamp the Jumbo Barrel Cactus in Pear Tart, let it dry and apply its mask. Stamp the Mini Thumb Cactus in Bamboo Leaves, let dry and apply the mask. Stamp the Mini Torch Cactus in Pear Tart and I stamped that a total of three times.

Remove all the masks. Now, we will decorate the pots with colored pencils. Here are the pencils I used for each pot and I just created shapes and colored them in.

Left Pot:

  • Indigo Blue
  • Light Aqua

Middle Pot:

  • Crimson Lake
  • Canary Yellow
  • Blue Lake

Right Pot:

  • Orange
  • Violet
  • Cream

Here are the colors I used for the cactus in each pot.

Left Pot

  • Dark Green
  • Beige Sienna (soil)

Middle Pot:

  • Beige Sienna (soil)

Right Pot:

  • Kelly Green (Jumbo Barrel Cactus)
  • Pale Sage (Torch Cactus)
  • Beige Sienna (soil)

I colored the sky with Powder Blue and the lower part of the card with Pale Sage, a went darker on the right of the pots to create a shadow.

Glue to the blue card base and place it so that you have a blue border around the card.

For the envelope, stamp the Build a Prickly Pear Cactus in Pistachio ink and single flower. Build three cactus across the bottom front of the envelope. Stamp the flower in Rhubarb Stalk and place it here and there on the cactus. Stamp the Mini Kalancho in New Sprout ink at the base of the cactus.
